Breeder Review: Randy Wright Reptiles

Randy Wright Reptiles

While this list isn’t necessarily shown in order, I knew right away that this breeder would be the first mentioned; in fact it was a conversation with him that sparked the idea. And not just conversation I had with him, nearly every sentence I heard him say to anyone there was mention of genetics or lineage. He has certainly been with his animals for an impressive number of generations, and it shows.

Randy Wright Snakes

Probably the most experienced breeder I’ll meet anytime soon, the beauty and quality of his snakes displayed the extent of his 30+ years of breeding expertise even before meeting him at all. I actually gasped when I saw some of the black and white morphs he had on display. I wish I had been able to nab a photo of them all before they were sold but wasn’t shocked to see only a few specimens left by day 2 when we returned with a camera.

Breeder Review: Poppycorns

Poppycorns
Since we’re already on the topic of snakes I thought it best to cover the other cool snake breeder to catch my attention. Lots of cool snakes were at the show but this breeder came the closest to making the neon pink color that I was allowed to buy if we saw it. I have no doubt that if anyone were to achieve the hot pink color it could very well be this cornsnake breeder, the bright bold colors she had on display seemed almost surreal.

Breeder Review: Geckos Etc.

by RachelA on Aug.17, 2009, under Breeder Reviews, Geckos Etc

Geckos Etc
droppedImageI honestly don’t know how else to put it. They were the healthiest, prettiest looking geckos I’ve ever seen and these photos don’t do them justice. There were so many more than the few I have here and I didn’t try very hard to avoid the display tags… though he was nice enough to offer to take the geckos out for me to get a better shot of them.
He had pink geckos, rainbow geckos, giant geckos, geckos with blue eyes… there were so many of them and each one had a nice fat tail and all its cute little toes. If and when I ever get any more geckos I suspect this will be the breeder I go to.

Review: California Turtle and Tortoise Club

by RachelA on Aug.17, 2009, under Breeder Reviews, California Turtle and Tortoise Club

California Turtle and Tortoise ClubAt first I was just amazed by the shell of a tortoise I didn’t get a shot of, but looked similar to the one here; and then I talked to one of the members at the exhibit and realized it was also a bit of a good cause.

Breeder Review: LLLReptile

by RachelA on Aug.17, 2009, under Breeder Reviews, LLLReptile

LLLReptileDidn’t take a genius to figure out that this was likely the largest of the vendors present at the show. Just one foot-long section of one table had at least 3 species of lizard which I had never even heard of before. Most of the creatures didn’t look like they had any impressive morphs but there were a few that looked almost hand-painted.shapeimage_21
